Every aquarist must have a gravel vacuum to remove the fish waste from the bottom of the aquarium. The larger the vacuum the better the suction.

This is a great fertilizer, but you really need to know your stuff in order to use it correctly. Too much fertilizer in combination with too little light and/or CO2 will cause huge algae problems.

My plants never looked better since I started CO2 injection. This product is like the step between a pop bottle CO2 kit and a serious CO2 systems. The only downside is remembering to refill the canister, which you have to do monthly.

This is not a bad book to pick up if you want your first book on how to set up an aquarium. It's interesting to read and has lots of pretty pictures, but it's in no way complete. You'll need to read some other books before you're actually ready to start your first aquarium.

My betta loved these, but I hated feeding them because they gross me out. The packaging instructs you to wash your hands after handling. Also, don't feed them to your fish too often because they can cause constipation (for your fish...not you).

This seems to me to be kind of a neither here nor there product. It's not bad, but it's not top-of-the-line either. I have very basic tropical freshwater fish (neons, black skirts, white clouds), so I use this food.

Well, I kind of said it all above. The packaging is kind of cool and my betta liked the food, but it was very expensive for fish food.

Pumped air like a champ. Unfortunately, it was so loud I couldn't bear to leave it on.

I love Flourite. It's gorgeous color is composed of reds, tans, grays, and black. It can be a little difficult to work with at the beginning because it needs to be rinsed thoroughly before using. And even if you do rinse it really well, you'll still cloud up your water by pouring water over it. Luckily, it clears up in a day or two. Perfect for a planted tank, but I wouldn't hesitate to use it in a tank with no live plants just to have the look of it.

All-glass makes solid aquariums. Unfortunately, their standard aquarium stands leave a little to be desired... like style. A little shelf on the inside would also be great. To give them some credit, though, some of their other styles are very attractive. I got a great deal on my 20-gallon long aquarium from my local pet store.
